**Position Overview**
The Warehouse Leadhand plays a crucial role in our supply chain and logistics operations. This position involves closely collaborating with the warehouse coordinator, DC supervisor, and manager to lead, direct, and oversee material handlers and shipping office staff. The Warehouse Leadhand will act as the primary contact for floor issues, manage inventory control activities, and ensure seamless operations within the warehouse. This role requires a high level of organization, communication, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
As a Warehouse Leadhand, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. **Leadership and Supervision:** Partner closely with the warehouse coordinator and work alongside the DC supervisor/manager to lead and oversee warehouse staff. This includes material handlers and shipping office personnel. In the absence of the DC Supervisor, the Warehouse Leadhand will assume supervisory responsibilities, except for disciplinary actions, which will be handled by the DC supervisor or manager.
2. **Inventory Management:** Manage and monitor warehouse inventory tasks, including identifying, investigating, and resolving inventory discrepancies resulting from the use of exception codes. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure goods are correctly received, stored, and accounted for.
3. **Cycle Counting:** Coordinate and perform cycle counting activities. Monitor and revise cycle counting procedures as needed, ensuring accurate records and inventory control. Report any discrepancies to management and adjust inventory files accordingly.
4. **Communication and Reporting:** Maintain communication with customer service and other departments to address issues such as overages, shortages, damages, and customer claims. Prepare various reports at the end of each accounting period and assist with annual inventory counts.
5. **Safety and Compliance:** Ensure compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) and food safety guidelines. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, report potential hazards, and demonstrate safe work habits. Support Saputo’s commitment to environmental preservation by following established policies and procedures.
6. **Technical Proficiency:** Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and SAP software for inventory control. Operate industrial warehouse equipment and handle RF (radio frequency) handheld units. Attend training sessions to ensure system and process proficiency.
7. **Customer Service:** Provide excellent customer service by maintaining open communication with customer service representatives. Research and resolve customer claims, communicate findings, and ensure proper documentation for financial applications.
8. **Team Collaboration:** Work together professionally with coworkers and other department personnel. Demonstrate professionalism and positively represent Saputo at all times, maintaining confidentiality and a positive attitude.
9. **Problem Solving:** Act as the primary contact for floor issues, problem-solving in real-time, and addressing challenges as they arise. Ensure smooth operations and effective resolution of any disruptions.
10. **Other Duties:** Perform additional tasks as requested, directed, or assigned. This includes end-of-month adjustments, managing in-transit inventory, and ensuring interface accuracy between EWM and ECC systems.
**Qualifications and Requirements**
To be considered for the Warehouse Leadhand position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
– **Experience:** A minimum of two years in a warehouse inventory role, with experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution center environment.
– **Technical Skills:** Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS), SAP, RF handheld units, word processing, and spreadsheet applications. Strong knowledge of inventory location-managed warehousing operations.
– **Attention to Detail:** Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize responsibilities. Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing organizational needs.
– **Communication Skills:** Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with team members, management, and other departments.
– **Organizational Skills:** Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage and lead a team, handle inventory discrepancies, and maintain accurate records.
– **Physical Requirements:** Ability to operate industrial warehouse equipment and perform physical tasks associated with warehouse operations.
– **Professionalism:** Demonstrates professionalism, maintains confidentiality, and positively represents Saputo.
