 **Key Responsibilities**

As a Dietary Aide at Monument Health Custer Hospital, your primary responsibilities will include:

1. **Customer Interaction:**
– Speak with a pleasant and professional voice when communicating with patients, visitors, and staff, both in person and over the telephone.
– Interpret the caller’s needs and offer assistance promptly and courteously.

2. **Dietary Adjustments:**
– Adjust patient diets according to individual needs, taking into consideration allergies, intolerances, lifestyle, psychosocial, and educational factors.
– Ensure all dietary adjustments are made accurately and in a timely manner.

3. **Order Management:**
– Gather complete data and accurately take food orders from patients and staff.
– Ensure all orders are entered into the computer system accurately on a daily basis.

4. **Documentation and Record-Keeping:**
– Maintain accurate records of all dietary adjustments and orders.
– Monitor self-computer usage to ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

5. **Team Collaboration:**
– Work as a team member to ensure continuity of care throughout the customer’s experience.
– Lead by example and train new Dietary Aides in the daily tasks of the role.

6. **Staff Meetings and Training:**
– Attend staff meetings and workshops as required, or obtain the necessary information when unable to attend.
– Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry standards and best practices.

7. **Physical Requirements:**
– Perform tasks that require exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 100 pounds occasionally.
– Ability to work designated shift lengths, including 8 and 12 hours, which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.

8. **Food Safety and Quality Assurance:**
– Follow all regulatory agencies’ guidelines to provide safe, quality food to all customers.
– Ensure a clean and sanitary food preparation and service environment.

9. **Additional Duties:**
– Perform all other duties as assigned, including assisting with food preparation, serving meals, and cleaning duties as needed.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and attributes:

– **Education:** High School Diploma or GED Equivalent in General Studies (preferred but not required).
– **Experience:** 1+ years of related experience in a healthcare or food service environment is preferred but not required.
– **Certification:** Food Protection Professional Certified by an accredited university or training program is preferred but not required.
– **Physical Capability:** Ability to perform very heavy work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy objects. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
– **Communication Skills:** Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with patients, staff, and visitors.
– **Attention to Detail:** Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately document and manage dietary orders and adjustments.
– **Team Player:** A team-oriented individual who demonstrates respect for all customers and colleagues and contributes positively to the work environment.
